Working at sea in the maritime industry, most have extensive training in technical matters and have most likely been promoted based on technical expertise. Unfortunately, there are those who might not have spent much time understanding the “computer between the ears” – in other words, our brains. Below, we have a selection of books that might help you do just that – a little about the hard wiring of why we think like we think, do what we do and what we can do to mitigate some our lower evolved traits. An ever growing list of books pertaining to the maritime industry, personal development, leadership and management has also been included. They have been contributed by Merchant Marine Captain Dan Ziemer, U.S. Marine Corps Colonel (ret) Walt Megonigal, the cohort at gCaptain and the staff here at Madden Maritime.
Before you head out to sea again, you might want to pick up a couple of these. There’s a lot of great information here!
